Scenes From This Morning

After Spencer’s alarm went off this morning, I realized I had a sore throat. Yep, I have officially lost my immunity to the sniffles, coughs, and sneezes that accompany boys under the age of 8. So, after racking my brain for what exactly to do for a sore throat, I came up with nothing. With nothing else to do while I waited for my alarm to go off signaling the mad dash to get ready for work, I decided to make my self a cup of coffee and catch up on some reading.

So, yesterday I arrived home ready to explain my new Kindergarten social skills group I started, yet much to my surprise our AT&T Uverse modem decided to stop working. So, the good news is without cable or internet I got a ridiculous amount of homework done last night and the bad news being I couldn’t share with you the first session of my new group.

It’s Not All Puppies and Rainbows

Well. . . I was met with my first resistance tonight. Starting something new is definitely not easy, especially in a school where your position was non-existent up until now. I thought that I had covered all my bases, answered all the expected questions in my brochure, and even created a letter introducing myself, my passion for the development of the whole child, and my education, but none of these things could have prepared me for the bombshell dropped on me tonight.

Oatmeal Cookies + Memories

There isn’t any point in the “I wish I would haves.” But let me tell you yesterday, thinking about my Grandma, I was full of them.

Instead of thinking about everything I could have asked her while she was still here, I decided I would do the one thing she really knew how to do well, and I would do it in her honor, bake Oatmeal Raisin Cookies.

Well, I sure didn’t. Not that it hasn’t been sitting on the spare bed and spread out over the entire desk area in our bedroom/study/art room/bike holding area or anything.

1st Day Down . . .

What a whirlwind! That’s about the only way to describe today.

I got asked so many times today how I’m liking my new job and all I can really say is BOY IS IT DIFFERENT! The biggest difference being the fact that I maybe sat down for 1 hr total today. The good news is maybe I can weight 5 lbs by the time school lets out next June.

Hugs, Paint, and Tears

I had a strange feeling last night. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but something seemed to be missing. I get these feelings sometimes and the best cure is a cup of sleepytime tea and my bed.

It wasn’t until this afternoon that I got the phone call from my dad telling me that my grandma passed away late last night. I knew it was coming, but it still isn’t something for which you are prepared.
